Within the area is the excellent Douglas Academy secondary school with primary provision at Clober Primary and Craigdhu Primary also close by. At Milngavie’s village there is Milngavie Primary and St. Josephs Primary. The estate is bordered by estate woodland, through which there is a very pleasant woodland walk. This walk runs behind the Mains Estate and there is a link path to this at the end of Dunellan Road. Keen walkers can use this path to link up to, and access Mugdock Park. Nearby is some lovely scenery and countryside, including the Campsie Fells and, within half an hour, the magnificence of The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. In Milngavie one is spoilt for choice for areas in which to walk and enjoy the countryside, including Allander Park, Mugdock Moor, Craigmaddie & Allander Reservoirs and the excellent facilities to be found at Mugdock Country Park. Milngavie village centre has a broad range of local amenities, including retail outlets, both local and high street, and here there is a railway station which provides a regular link into Glasgow’s City Centre and West End. Leisure interests include tennis club, golf courses, bowling clubs and the Nuffield Health sports club, situated on Strathblane Road.
From Corum’s office at Canniesburn Toll exit northbound onto Drymen Road (A809) and proceed through the traffic lights at Bearsden Cross. Turn sixth right as signposted for Drymen and the A809 (Stockiemuir Road). Follow this road to the roundabout at Baljaffray and continue straight ahead out into the countryside (A809). At the next roundabout exit right as signposted into the Mains Estate and follow the access road round to the left (Douglas Muir Road). Take first left onto Douglas Muir Drive along until the access to the cul-de-sac and the property can be found some way along on the right hand side.
