your rural hideaway
Many of us long for a rural escape that takes us away from the
stresses and strains of working life. It is a rare achievement
to balance the hustle and bustle of urban living with beautiful
landscapes, peace and tranquillity. However, for people living in
Killearn and the surrounding areas this ‘best of both worlds’
balance is comfortably achieved.
Killearn House is approximately 2 miles from the village of
Killearn, a small village of approximately 1700 people, and one of
the most sought after in Stirlingshire. This compact community
is located 18 miles north of Glasgow city centre and only 9
miles from Loch Lomond. Famous as the birthplace of the noted
Scottish humanist and scholar, George Buchanan, Killearn has a
unique history in that it was spared from the damaging effects of
industrial progress. In 1932 a Mr G. Innes, in the finest tradition
of philanthropic endeavour, decided that this pretty village was
worth preserving, and in so doing has given Scotland one of its
most picturesque locations.
